Cinnamon Apple Scones

Cinnamon Apple Scones Recipe

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground nutmeg
8 tblsp cold butter (Tip: chill in freezer for about 10 minutes prior to use)
1 cup peeled and diced apple (use your favorite variety of apple)
1 cup milk
1 tblsp apple cider vinegar

Directions
Preheat oven to 400°

Whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl.
Using a pastry cutter tool, mix in the cold butter until you have a coarse crumbly mixture.
Add the apples, folding them in gently.
In a separate smaller bowl, whisk the milk, apple cider vinegar, and Happy Home Pure Vanilla Extract together. Add to the flour/butter mixture slowly.
Add only a small amount of the milk mixture at a time until moist but not overly wet.
Gently work the dough into a ball.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently knead the dough four or five times (Tip: overworking will make the dough tough).
Pat the dough into a round flat circle (about 1 1/2" thickness).
Cut into eight triangle shaped wedges (like you would slice a pizza). Arrange the triangle-cut scones 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.
Place the cookie sheet/scones in the freezer for at least 10 minutes (this will prevent spreading).

Once chilled, bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
When done, brush with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar.
Cool on a wire rack.
Enjoy!
